SWALLOW?
Well you should’ve. The official launch of www. Swallowfood.com happened at the Drake hotel and the night was s huge success. What do you get when you mix a waitress, party animal, top chefs, mixologists, restaurant designers and writers all submitting stories? A fat, entertaining, witty blog that’s what. . So… whaddy’a think? Pretty awesome huh
Folks getting down; indulging in the cheese and vino. Now that’s a classy party! No cheese puffs anywhere to be found. Nicole at the drake was both informative and nice on the eyes. Just what you want.
The party was nothing, if not f.cking amazing. I’m biased though as a contributor, right?
You know the score…Getting tipsy with the great Jessica Fletcher
Great mix, as usual for an 86’d. This Monday always brings out such a great crowd- open, easy to talk to- all walks of life that enjoy gastronomic pleasures. A topic that instantly breaks down social and economic barriers. Not to say people were slumming it, anything but, Ivy and Kristina, the fair editors of this site, were dressed to the nines, eclipsing us mere mortals in casual clothes.
Jim from Bruichladdich distillery in Scotland, walking us novices through the layers of different scotches. This was way classier than Jaeger bombs!
Gord Hannah kept the drinks flowing and the party was only mildly interrupted by ahemmm.. Scotch tasting (a bargain at $20- for 4 x 1 oz drinks). And those who stuck around after the tasting, to ask Jim additional questions, were treated to extra samples. Does this man know how to market or what?
I hate being the first one to dip into the cheese. I never make the right cut with my knife to keep it looking pretty. Oh well, it tasted great.
I sipped on bourbon and delighted in a CRAZY charcuterie platter- with heavenly sausages, cornihsons and chutney’s, fine cheese and artisan bread to soak it all up.
Of course, when the hosts exited after a well deserve run on the night, yours truly kept the party going until 1:30. Why do I ever think I can go one for one drinking with chefs? I’m convinced they metabolize EVERYTHING differently. I am so grateful that my bed is within walking distance to the Drake and that I have to pass by Massimo’s pizza to get there.
How it looked. So pretty on the roof of the Drake, all snowy.
…and then how it looked to me after the sum of the cocktails decided to combine at the same time. Weeee, I love to spin.
That’s all folks. Love all, serve all.
Signed, Animal
